Thankful Thoughts

While I'm not exactly a hoarder (who am I kidding?) I seem to have amassed quite a bit of Designer Series Paper (Stampin' Up! term)/Patterned Paper.  I love them all, but I have a little trouble using them correctly...primarily because I can't stand to cover it up and second because I find that most all of my card projects to date include some form of coloring (Hurray for Copics!) !  So, for the month of July, the challenge to myself to keep my cards simple, yet elegant using DSP/patterned paper in all of my designs.  This card is the first card resulting from this challenge.  Do you use your DSP or do you hoard it? Oh How I Love Glimmer...Mist

I absolutely love bling on my card creations and normally, I use embellishments like Stampin' Up! Pearls or Rhinestones, or the Tonic Nuvo Drops  (absolutely love BLING in all forms and fashion).  I've been hearing a lot lately about Glimmer Mists and wanted to try them.  Of course, if you know me, you'll know that once I discover something, I jump in with both feet!  (Oh how true this is!)  So off I went on the hunt for Glimmer Mists!   I found there were several brands (Tim Holtz, Heidi Swapp etc), but I found the Tattered Angels Brand in Tuesday Morning for $2.49, but in the other craft stores for over $5 each.  This was not going to sit well with my budget...so what's a crafty crafter to do?  I scour YouTube for ways to make my own much more cost effectively...and these are the results...I am slowly amassing glimmer mists in all of my favorite colors...metallics, glitter, pearlized...you name it, I'm going for it...(see why buying them wouldn't make my

Mystery Stamp Along

Hi Stampers:  I'm excited to start something new...it's called a Stamp-Along...plan for about an hour for this fun, interactive game on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 7pm CST.  You will be given CLUES to guide you as to what to do.  Only "requirement": you must use at least 1 Stampin' Up! product.   I will tell you how to cut your cardstock, where to put your sentiments, things like that.  You will be playing along, but you don't know what the final card will look like,  Everyone will be creating their own card and at the end we will all share our cards.  You can post your finished card here on my blog or on my Facebook page .  Come join me over on my Facebook Page for my first every Mystery Stamp Along. I won't create a Facebook event for the Stamp Along, so mark it on your calendar.  I'm so excited...hope you can join me... Happy Stampin!

Women's History BlogHop

March is Women's History Month... The Austin Area Stampers group is hosting its first bloghop...my first too...and we decided...What a fun way to create and honor Women’s History Month! Use our art and passion as a way to commemorate an often overlooked month. The theme, Women’s History Month is anything you want it to be as long as it involves paper crafting. As an officer and more importantly, as a WOMAN in the military, I chose to create a piece representative of freedom! The stamp I chose, A Beautiful You! is from the current Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  Of the three images in the set, this one spoke to me of FREEDOM. FREEDOM... of women to be able to serve their country, not just in a support role, but in combat as well, right along side their brothers. FREEDOM... to be a Soldier/Airman/or a Marine and still BE a woman FREEDOM... once your duty to serve your country is complete, to celebrate life. Unity Stamp Company Paper Piecing Challenge

Angie Girl - Gianna One of my new discoveries in stamping is  +Unity Stamp Company  .  I absolutely adore their products.  Don't get me wrong, I am still and always will be a Stampin' Up! girl, but these stamps, especially the Angie Girl Collection, speak to me.  I find that the sentiments and the stamps in this collection "look" like me.  I'm not a size 0 or size 4, so the full-figuredness of the girls say, look at me, "I like who I am" although I'm not a Size 0.  The sentiments give words of encouragement and motivation. Angie Girl - Stand Tall On the Unity Show & Tell Facebook page, there was a Paper Piecing Technique Challenge.  These were my submissions for the challenge.  I like them! Enjoy and Happy Stampin!

Feeling Thankful

There are days in life when one must stop and be appreciative for the blessings and good things that are happening in their lives rather that focusing on the negative. My world has been spinning lately...literally and figuratively...and if you believe, that's God's way of telling me to slow down and appreciate the blessings that he has given me.  This card was born out of that feeling of Thankfulness and appreciation for what I have. Thank you...for tomorrow isn't promised. All products used to make this card can be found on my Stampin' Up! website . Sweets' February Class By Mail

It's High Tide... Item 143006 My stamp set of choice this week, was  +Stampin' Up!  High Tide, a new release in our Occasions 2017 Catalog.   I created three card projects with this stamp set and I'm working on a fourth, as the idea for it just popped into my head...this one using the Stamp Set "A Beautiful You", also from the Occasions Catalog...more to follow. High Tide has 16 photopolymer stamps, 2 of which you can use to do a little two-step stamping.  I've tried to show you some of the versatility of the stamp set, although I've utilized the same colors throughout the projects. In the piece above, I incorporated a little Reflection/Mirror Image Stamping Technique and I must say for the first effort, I didn't do so bad...  In all of the projects, I used the sponging technique... Products used: Stamp set:   High Tide Inks:   Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry , Pool Party, Soft Sky , Crumb Cake , Soft Suede
