This is the first post for the month...and I'm excited to share.  This past weekend, several of my dearest friends assisted me with organizing the disaster area the was/is my craft room and I'm proud of where we are in the process...my garage and car may not love me for a while (that's where all the overflow stuff is and the car isn't) but it had to be done.  But I took some time to play in the craft room yesterday.   Over on the Splitcoast Stampers page, the technique challenge was the Eclipse technique.  The technique involves die-cutting a word into a card panel...usually, either Designer Series Paper (DSP)/patterned paper or an art panel that you've created...like I've done in this instance, and then using dimensionals, adding the die-cut word back into the panel to achieve the desired effect. Welcome to the Masculine Themed Blog Hop - a collection of ideas from current Stampin' Up! demonstrators featuring creations that focus on those masculine figures in our lives-fathers, brothers, uncles, cousins, and friends.  As both my dad and my brother have birthdays this month AND Father's Day is in June...this was a timely project for me. For my project, I focused on using the stamp set, Whiskey Business and then supplemented with the Stacked Stone Set...neither of which I had used before but I so wanted the opportunity to play with them.  The card is a standard A2 (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") card base in landscape orientation. Another quick and easy card...this one was inspired by Lynn Dunn, a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. Her inspiration was a 12" x 12" Designer Series Paper (DSP) One Sheet Wonder.  From any one sheet of double-sided DSP, you can create 9 cards using this simple layout...of course, if it's not double-sided, you can use 2 coordinating sheets of paper.   Whenever I try out something new for the first time, I tend to use retired products. For my project, I used a Stampin' Up! retired stamp set, and a retired designer series paper. This card is a perfect way to use up some DSP.   To create this card, you'll need: Card base: 4 1/4" x 5 1/2"  Basic White panel: 4" x 5 1/4" and scrap for sentiment DSP: (2) 2" x 4" Colored cardstock: 1 1/4" x 4 1/4" Embellishment(s) of choice.  I used Nuvo drops and white bakers twine.   Another Splitcoast Stampers Color Combination challenge accepted and completed.  Week 5/12/2021 color challenge, CC843, featured the Stampin' Up! colors: Rich Razzleberry, Highland Heather, and Pear Pizzazz!  At first, I wasn't so sure how it would turn out, but I love them together.   I like to call my style of cardmaking #simpleyetelegant...which can translate to SIP (Stamps, Ink, and Paper) with minimal to no embellishments or a multi-layer project.  Take a look at the cards I made for the color challenge. Both cards were made using an A2 card base portrait style. For this first card, featuring the retired Stampin' Up! set Dear  Doily, on a piece of basic white cardstock, I stamped the largest doily image in Pear Pizzazz, the medium in the Highland Heather, and the smallest image in the Rich Razzleberry.  I also used the Pear Pizzazz ink to stamp tone on tone using the medium doily image on the Pear Pizzazz cardstock panel.   Hello, stampers! Thanks for stopping in today to see what I have in store for you!  I've been a member of Splitcoast Stampers for a while now, but just recently (as in the first time) started participating in the color challenges.      Every week, the host posts a color combination and everyone is invited to create a project that incorporates the chosen palette.  For my first foray into the color challenge, I started with CC844 which spotlights Stampin' Up! So Saffron, Pool Party, and Mint Macaron.  I made two cards for this challenge and I hope you enjoy them both. Some say, creating masculine cards is a bit challenging.  This month, I focused on creating "masculine" cards featuring the Stampin' Up! Well Suited suite of products...plus a little extra...especially as both my dad and brother have birthdays this month and of course, Father's Day is next month. I had plenty of the World of Good Designer Series (Retired) paper available and thought it would make the perfect addition to creating these masculing cards.
