Fractured Frame Thank You - A Stamping With Friends Blog

Hello everyone, and welcome back! It's the first Saturday of the month... AND...WORLD CARDMAKING DAY...time for another Blog Hop!

Thank you for joining us for another Stamping with Friends Blog Hop! If you are new to my blog, Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up!® demonstrators worldwide who share our love of card-making through monthly blog hops with various themes. If you are following the hop, you'll have just popped over from Deb Schultz's- "Handcrafted by Deb's"blog. I hope you took a minute to leave a comment for her as I'm sure she'll appreciate it as much as I will. If you are starting the hop with me, thank you so much and I hope you enjoy what I and the other hoppers have prepared for you today!

This month, the theme is to create a "fractured frame" card.  At first glance, you'd think this was a difficult card to make, but it's not.  The easiest is to use a square shape turned on its point to create a diamond.  However, you can use any other shape you prefer.

Here are a couple of tips:
1. Test out your strips to determine which is the "longest" side.  I start there.
2. Use one of the 1/8" strips as a guide when you start to align them.
3. Liquid glue is your friend with this design as you may need additional time to line up your strips perfectly.
4. Create a template.  I have one each for a 3 3/4" x 5" in portrait and horizontal orientation and one each for 4" x 5 1/4" in portrait and horizontal orientation.
5. Last tip, your strips should be the same color as your mat layer to emphasize the fracture.

One thing I really appreciate about this technique is that you'll need only a few supplies unless you decide to add more details/embellishments than I did.

Generally, I don't like to include too many colors unless I'm creating a card where I'm coloring.  So today's color palette is another simple one.

Measurements:
Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Basic White: 4" x 5 1/4 and 2 1/4" x 2 1/4"
DSP: 4" x 5 1/4"
Pecan Pie: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" and (4) strips 1/8" x 6"

Here are the supplies I used:
