Creative Inspiration with a Sketch

Here's this month's sketch:

And here's the project it inspired:

The cute characters in the Festive Friends Bundle are just perfect for a fun, festive card.

A rectangle of the "falalala la" pattern paper from the Modern Christmas 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper measuring 2½" x 5¼" was adhered to the left-hand side of a folded Basic White card base. A smaller rectangle of Real Red Cardstock, measuring 1¼" x 3½" was added to the right-hand side of the DSP layer.

A square of Balmy Blue Cardstock was embossed using the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder, and trimmed to measure 3" x 3". A Basic White Cardstock circle was cut using the 2⅜" Circle Punch, and adhered directly to the embossed square. The two ends of a strip of the dotted pattern from the Modern Christmas DSP, measuring ½" x 4⅛", were cut to flags and the strip adhered to the bottom of the embossed square, overlapping the punched circle slightly.

The snowman image from the Festive Friends Cling Stamp Set was stamped on Basic White Cardstock using Tuxedo Black Memento™ Ink, and colored using Stampin' Blends™ (Balmy Blue, Real Red, and Timid Tiger). Wink of Stella™ was used to add sparkle to the fur edging of the snowman's hat. The image was cut out using the coordinating die from the Festive Friends Dies, and added on top of the punched circle using Stampin' Dimensionals™. The finished panel was added to the card front, again using Stampin' Dimensionals. The sentiment, from the same stamp set, was stamped in the bottom right corner of the card using Memento Ink. Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints were added as embellishments.

I'd love to get one out to you and to serve as your demonstrator. For my contribution to this blog hop, I chose the "In the Moment" set. Stampin' with Friends Technique Blog Hop - Masking

Hi there, Stamping Friends!  It's time for another Stamping with Friends Blog Hop.  As you know, Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrators who enjoy paper crafting, creating cards, and other projects to share with each other and with you. If you've arrived from Karen's blog, welcome!  This time, the theme is to create a card or project based on a favorite technique.  There are sooooo many techniques that I love but with this project, I'm going to focus mainly on two.  Can you guess what one of them is? Yup, you guessed it...masking!  There're so many things you can do with this technique from: simple masking to creating seamless backgrounds and adding depth...hmmm, I think I've decided to do a blog series focusing on the different things you can do with masking. For this post, I chose to start with a simple spotlight masking technique. Let me show you how I created this card. Now I incorporated several other techniques (dry ...

Stampin' with Friends Blog Hop Vine Design

Hi, so glad you decided to pop in to see what I have in store for you today.   This is my inaugural blog hop with Stamping with Friends. Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who enjoy sharing our love of paper crafting in general and for me, more specifically, card making with you. The group hosts two hops every month.   The theme for this hop showcases retiring sets, bundles, or products from the January - June 2021 mini catalog that retires at the end of this month.  I chose to feature the Vine Design Bundle. I was drawn to this bundle for many reasons; first, the die cuts are elegant and can stand alone to create a beautiful, simple yet elegant card, second, the sentiments also make it a very versatile set that covers multiple occasions, and third, I could see the possibilities with one of my favorite masking and blending techniques. I hope you enjoy this hop and the cards I created to share with you. This first card highlights the m...
