CAS the Catty - Bamboo Beauty

Welcome! Thanks for stopping by Sweets' Stampin' Creations where I share card
projects created using Stampin' Up! products. It's time for another Stamping With Friends blog hop!  I'm hopping with some awesome paper crafters and stampers from the Stamping With Friends Facebook Group.  This weekend our theme was to Copy and Share (CAS) the annual or mini catalog. If you've come from Victoria Littlewood's blog, then you saw her project using the Dragonfly Garden set. I hope these and the other projects serve to inspire your creativity.

So sit back, relax and let me introduce you to a set from page 49 in the Annual Catalog called Bamboo Beauty (155478).

Not to bore you, but let me tell you a little bit about the bamboo. Did you know that bamboo is an evergreen perennial flowering plant native to warm and moist tropical to warm temperate climates? Or that the soft shoots, stems, and leaves are a major food source for some animals especially pandas? Well, now you do!  Although technically considered grass, the bamboo's strength-to-weight ratio is similar to that of timber.

After flipping through the Annual Catalog when it first debuted, one of the first (and there were many) sets that caught my eye was the Bamboo beauty. It spoke to me of serenity, peace, and calm...its beauty so simple yet elegant but still the strength showed through.

I chose to stick as closely as possible to the SU artist's design.  I used one of my favorite techniques - marbling with alcohol markers on vellum- to create my DSP. I used the 2021-2023 In-colors: Soft Succulent, Evening Evergreen, and Pale Papaya...I added a little Soft Suede too.

I started with a standard A2 card base in portrait orientation (5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored at 4 1/4")
I then created my vellum DSP panel with the Stampin' Blends and 91% alcohol.  I trimmed the vellum piece to the size that I wanted for this project (3 1/4" x 4 5/8").  I used some repositionable tape to stack all of the card panels to the card base, then stamped the images so that they would appear on all of the panels (quad-layer stamping). I only call it quad-layer stamping because, including the card base, we stamped on 4 panels.  Once that was done, I removed all of the panels then added the permanent adhesive.  I added dimensionals to the vellum before adding it to the 4" x 5 1/4" panel. (note:  I only did this because I knew it would be covered by the smaller panel and it wouldn't show through)

Carefully lining up all of the points of the stamped images, I completed the assembly of the base card.  I tied a piece of bakers twine and using the mini glue dots, added it to the panel.  Stamped and heat embossed the sentiment on a scrap piece of Pale Papaya card stock added it to the card with dimensionals and then lastly, added the opal gems.

Truly hope you enjoyed my card and my attempt to CAS the catalog.
