Card Sketch #001

So....I learned a new skill (thanks to @Catherine Carroll)...how to create card sketches/layouts/templates whatever you choose to call them using Canva.  I can't say that I'm an expert at it, but it sure was fun learning.  I'm still wet behind the ears, but I'm excited to share the first one with you!

Very easy and very simple...you know me #simpleyetelegant is my style. So what do you think?  I'm a proponent of having measurements on templates...seeing as I usually can't figure them out for myself...so that's one thing I had to ensure that I included.

So let me share with you the card I created using this layout! The focal image was created from the Technique Tuesday, Greenhouse Society April Stamp "Petunia" and colored using Stampin' Up! Stampin' Blends and some wink of Stella added for a touch of extra sparkle.  I used Stampin' Up! Regals DSP (an often overlooked item in the catalog...in-color, regals, neutrals, brights, and subtles, I mean) and then matted with Basic Black and Fresh Freesia (the largest layer).

I'm going to continue making sketches...I can't promise that I pop out 2 or more per week, can't even promise one per week, but as I create them, I'll post them on my Pinterest board and create a blog post to let you know.

I hope you'll try my sketches and the better I get, the better they'll get.  If you do try them, be sure to post what you've created.

Happy Stampin'

On another note, tomorrow is the last day to sign up for the June "Pick of the Crop" Paper Pumpkin kit.

Stampin' with Friends Technique Blog Hop - Masking

Hi there, Stamping Friends!  It's time for another Stamping with Friends Blog Hop.  As you know, Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! Independent Demonstrators who enjoy paper crafting, creating cards, and other projects to share with each other and with you. If you've arrived from Karen's blog, welcome!  This time, the theme is to create a card or project based on a favorite technique.  There are sooooo many techniques that I love but with this project, I'm going to focus mainly on two.  Can you guess what one of them is? Yup, you guessed it...masking!  There're so many things you can do with this technique from: simple masking to creating seamless backgrounds and adding depth...hmmm, I think I've decided to do a blog series focusing on the different things you can do with masking. For this post, I chose to start with a simple spotlight masking technique. Let me show you how I created this card. Now I incorporated several other techniques (dry ...

Stampin' with Friends Blog Hop Vine Design

Hi, so glad you decided to pop in to see what I have in store for you today.   This is my inaugural blog hop with Stamping with Friends. Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who enjoy sharing our love of paper crafting in general and for me, more specifically, card making with you. The group hosts two hops every month.   The theme for this hop showcases retiring sets, bundles, or products from the January - June 2021 mini catalog that retires at the end of this month.  I chose to feature the Vine Design Bundle. I was drawn to this bundle for many reasons; first, the die cuts are elegant and can stand alone to create a beautiful, simple yet elegant card, second, the sentiments also make it a very versatile set that covers multiple occasions, and third, I could see the possibilities with one of my favorite masking and blending techniques. I hope you enjoy this hop and the cards I created to share with you. This first card highlights the m...
