Simple Stamping - A Stamping with Friends Blog Hop

Simple stamping can mean so much to many different people. To some it can mean only a one-layer card; to others, it can mean only using Stamps, ink, and paper; yet still, to others, it can mean ensuring your card/project has lots of "white space".  This month, the Stamping with Friends Blog hop crew explores what simple stamping means to each of us.  

Hello, everyone, welcome to November, and thank you for joining us!  If you are new to my blog, Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world who share our love of card-making through monthly blog hops with various themes. If you are following the hop, then you'll have just popped over from Diane Evans (Canada) Stamping with Diane's blog. I hope you took a minute to leave a comment for her as I'm sure she'll appreciate it just as much as I will. If you are starting the hop with me, thank you so much and I hope you enjoy what I and the other hoppers have prepared for you today!

My project today focused on two of my favorite techniques: masking and blending. For the sample, here are the colors that I used: Tahitian Tide, Misty Moonlight, and Night of Navy.

To create this card:

• Cut 2 strips of masking paper 1 1/2" x 6"
• Measure approximately 1/4" - 1/2" from the bottom and add the bottom of the masking paper to this line. (Note: make sure to use the grid paper to ensure straight lines)
• Then lay the second piece of masking paper approximately 1" from the top of the previously placed masking paper.
• Starting with your lightest color, in this case Tahitian Tide, blend, use the blending brush to add color starting from either side to approximately mid-way.
• Then blend in the next color (Misty Moonlight) from the other side ensuring overlap in the blending.
• 
  Carefully remove the "top" masking paper; measure a space 1" - 1 1/2" and then place the masking paper 
• Starting with the last color used (Misty Moonlight) start blending and then finishing with the last color (Night of Navy). Blend until satisfied then remove the masking tape.
• Stamp and heat emboss the image, then the sentiment.
• Add dimensionals or foam adhesive sheets and add to the card base. Then embellish as desired.
