Die-Bossing with Two Tone Flora

Hello, everyone, and welcome to May...the month of Mother's Day and Memorial Day...and thank you for joining us!  If you are new to my blog, Stamping with Friends is a group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators from all over the world (Canada, UK, and USA) who share our love of card-making through monthly blog hops with various themes. For this hop, we are focusing on a technique...creating embossed panels with dies--thinlets or framelits. This is the first time I've tackled this particular technique...not sure why...but for sure I'll be incorporating it more in my bag of tricks.  I decided to make a very simple card as I wanted the embossed panel to be the card's focus.  Take a look and see what I've created. 

Here are the colors I chose:

Measurements:

Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored at 4 1/4"
Colored Cardstock 3 3/4" x 5"

Colored Cardstock 2: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
Scrap Basic White for sentiment
Ribbon

Embellishment

My challenge was figuring out the correct sandwich to achieve this technique with the Stampin' Cut 'n Emboss machine.  I went through several sandwich iterations until I landed on the one that worked best for me. For this technique and my Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine, here's what I used. You may have to play around a bit with your machine to see what's right for your machine.

Here's the sandwich that worked for me:

Plate 1
(2) Cutting Plates (I used a Magic mat as one of my cutting plates)
Embossing Mat* (no longer a Stampin' Up! item) 

Here's another tip: be sure to use the Stampin' Spritzer to spritz the cardstock with water. This will reduce the potential for the cardstock to crack and give you a crisper image.

I chose to use the embossed panel in its most basic form but that doesn't mean you can't do a whole lot more with it. I'm going to create a couple more embossed panels and post them on my Pinterest page over the next couple of weeks.  Keep checking there for more.

I hope you give this technique a try. It really was very simple...just the way I prefer my cards, simple yet elegant.
